Mission Statement: The Marshall County Historical Society collects, preserves, and promotes artifacts that represent the legacy of Marshall County, West Virginia. Through displays and interpretation of these artifacts the heritage of its landscapes, industries, businesses, and people, are available to future generations.
Vision Statement: The Marshall County Historical Society strives to be the preeminent community steward and central educational location showcasing the county's historical legacy.
The Society's Primary Goals: Through the primary stewardship of the Marshall County History Museum and the Historic Cockayne Farmstead, the Society promotes other significant community landmarks. The Marshall County Historical Society is committed to "preserving the past for the future" by: ● Providing educational, genealogical, and research resources to the community. ● Providing professional displays of artifacts showcasing the rich history of Marshall County's cultural, economic, and transportation legacy. ● Providing community facilities for educational activities through interactive workshops, guest speakers, and agrarian demonstrations. ● Providing local schools and their students opportunities to study Marshall County's history. ● Providing research support and resources to academic, local, regional, national, and international stakeholders desiring to study Marshall County's history.
